“The most expensive graphic designer in London” and Dig Out Your Soul from Oasis. July 20, 2008

Meanwhile, speaking of popular culture…As reported on designboom and in the Guardian…
recently, when asked if oasis would follow the current trend for giving music away for free, the band front man, noel gallagher blurted out the following mouthful:
‘I didn’t spend a year in the most expensive studio in england, with the most expensive producer in america, and the most expensive graphic designer in london to then give [the album] away. fuck that.’
A man’s got to live. Meanwhile here it is, the work of Julian House/Intro… curiously no one knows his/their rates.

Julian House is the most expensive graphic designer in London? That I didn’t know. His own music is a lot better than Oasis’ and he does occasionally give the off track away for free.

“the off track away for free.” should, of course, be “the odd track away for free.”
I didn’t know he made music. Cheers McGazz. I really like his stuff for Primal Scream. Not sure about the above example of his output though. Seems a bit… unfinished. But it’s difficult to say not seeing it in context…
Actually on second thoughts I’d put it like this, it’s a bit like the London Olympics Logo, either genius or rubbish. The jury is still out.
Well, Julian House says he one of his influences is HP Lovecraft. Can see it myself.
Regards to the London Olympics Logo…. see the below link:

I remember reading a story in the Guardian some years ago – not many – in which somebody in London was described as “a colour consultant”. I found myself wondering, rhetorically, whether there are many colour consultants in Bolton.
“Well, Julian House says he one of his influences is HP Lovecraft. Can see it myself.”
There are not! ejh…
I think the ‘most expensive graphic designer in London’ comment was a bit of Gallagher hyperbole.
Artwork is good; much, much better in context.
