Good news in the comments on this thread from Ghandi of North Strand. Seán Garland has been granted bail, albeit it under extremely onerous conditions. Details here.

onerous?
It’s only a short time since he lied to another court and skipped bail on the same charges. Seems sensible to me.
The adjective describes the noun regardless of the justification thereof.
Onerous – having legal obligations that outweigh the advantages .
Demonstrably not the case here – given his history of regard to bail conditions (and the sureties involved).
Onerous – heavy in relation to the physical and financial capabilities of the defendant.
Not onerous – task of understanding the above.
A man with access to a currency print press has pretty flexible financial capability I’d have thought.
And I think I’ve made my point – the legal obligations are clearly within the bounds of necessity – the man’s got form in running away and leaving his sureties in the lurch. Therefore most certainly not onerous conditions. He made his bed – he can sleep in it.
