Benefits are higher in the Republic than in the UK. But that’s only because Thatcher eroded them so effectively there.
Public sector wages are higher but that reflects higher costs of living. Real wages (in marxist terms) are probably lower.
IMF want to reinforce government’s hard neo-liberalist policies.
