On this snowy evening in Dublin I thought I would share some of Bertie and Cyprian’s Christmas Spirit.
From Bertie and Cyprian a Christmas card with the message
“Thank You and Best Wishes for Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year” – ‘From Your Local TDs -Fianna Fail’.
Rest of it HERE

That gives the parodists a few days to get to work…
Interesting is it not that they put out a joint card?
An effort to support Cyp against Fitzpatrick I assume, and highlight him as bertie’s man (for good or bad!!!). Surely the man won’t run…
Yeah. It’s that, isn’t it. And also a little fall back if jibes of wasting money come at them for sending out cards at Christmas in this [political/economic] climate.
Can’t see Ahern running, though… and what then of the ticket if he did? Would Cyprian have to fall on his sword to guarantee one FF seat (and wouldn’t that be an interesting experiment to see how Ahern did?).
I rarely feel much sympathy for FF members, though I’ve met a few I liked, but Fitzpatrick got a rough deal over the years.
They usually do, but this list Cyprian’s on top. Also my street seems to have missed out on this festive greeting, or just my house? or maybe on eof teh dogs grabbed it. Naturally I confiscated my mothers one.
I was so touched the lads were thinking of me at this difficult time that I wanted to show my appreciation: so I got a sharpie, scrawled a few greetings on their card (can’t afford a new one) and sent it back to them – but I couldn’t afford a stamp either…..
I think if you put it in a brown envelope and ring them, Fianna Fáil will come and get it from you.
It’s alright – I stuck it in the post anyway: I’m sure Bertie still has 55c to his name to pay the postman.
Best.
Cedar Lounge Post.
Ever.
(re: the Italian biscuit’s cost-cutting suggestion)
I am astonished Bertie-Cyprian did not highlight Dublin getting to the Men’s All-Ireland Senior Football Semi-Final for he first time in years, beating Tyrone along the way. You did not know Bertie is the right-hand man of manager Pat Gilroy – staggered it is, I am.
New found modesty – very 2010.
How did all that text fit inside a Christmas card?
Burnt quickly in the fire just to let people know.
Only place for it really.
He’s going to run. It’s obvious.
Hard to know, though yes, this does seem to point to a very slightly increased likelihood. Though again, as I said above, I’d be dubious. He’s not enjoyed being on the back benches one bit.
Nowhere near as good as yer man StaFFord for Dublin Central…
Is that Royston in the middle?
More than one crook in the picture so…
Nothing as of yet in Dublin SC from Sean Ardagh and wife, who unfailingly remember anarchaeologist every winter at around solstice time. For several years the card was returned (with a stamp SoS, things aren’t that bad in Inchicore. Yet.), initially with a polite note asking him to desist; more recently however the note has been ruder. But still they arrived.
In Clare you seem to only get a card from the TD you voted for, with relatives in neighbouring houses yesterday and this morning getting cards from FF and FG TDs, based on a common granduncle’s antipathy towards his IRA O/C in 1922, which in turn had something to do with a field or a goat…
Get the goat story on tape ASAP, before those who remember it (even at second hand) drop off the twig. . .
Is that Bertie with the staff on the front? Are his hands in Mary’s pocket?
I got mine too. It reads to me like Bertie will run again. As for Fitzpatrick, she’s an FFer like the rest of them. Never forget that.
But she will either be on their ticket and will run a “Bertie did me down. Poor me” campaign. Or if she’s not on their ticket, she could do worse than run as an independent on a “Bertie did me down. Poor me” ticket.
People love that sort of stuff especially FFers who are conflicted because Bertie achieved so much for Dublin Central (sarcasm smiley) but totally screwed the country.
