Buapestkick’s blog Ephemeral Left carries some interesting materials relating to the Laois/Offaly United Left Alliance which you’ll find here.

Anybody know anything about the accuracy of the claim here that Liam Dumpleton will not now be standing for the ULA, and that they’ll be running someone else?

Didn’t see either name on the list of candidates on the ULA website, but that mightn’t mean anything. Quite a lot of fanfare about this group joining when it happened. Can it really be that he will no longer be standing without much comment?
As I underdand it, yes it’s true.
The original candidate decided that the ULA was too politically radical for him and that he’d be standing as an independent. So the group selected Raymond Fitzpatrick to stand instead.
Cheers Mark. Be interesting to see how much of the group went with him, and how much of it stayed with the ULA. Might say something about the gap between the further left and more mainstream elements of the broad left.
