From the early 70s an ad for Bank of Ireland “The bank of a lifetime” ….. Now it just drips with irony as we stuck with this banks debts for our lifetime and beyond…

The lazy meeja again have not copped on the implications of the private bond sale of BoI paper that Noonan has been crowing about.

The only people who would buy were the private equity vultures. These creatures make their money by asset stripping and a quick flip. What assets are there to strip? People’s houses, largely. We should have been warned if we had anything like a free media.

Sort of OT but i heard this on the news this afternoon on one of the pop stations, and RTE didn’t report it on Drivetime and I was a bit surprised…… :)

Just saw that on the RTE News. From what I gather its the shortest legal route to repossession by the banks being closed. The RTE Report hinted and the above piece said that there were other lengthier ways for the banks to get their pound of flesh.
They should really think of changing the law to a system like the US where the mortgage is tied to the property rather than the individual.

Hmm – I’m lapsing into my usual state of confusion – this bit in the Guardian suggests that RBS is the main ‘investor’.

That’s the 85% UK state-owned RBS. Why? Is the UK government protecting the exposure of their sponsors in the City?

And why was Noonan talking about private equity investors? Or have the fuckwits at RBS re-invented themselves?
