So off we go again, hopefully a Summer full of fun in Poland/Ukraine.
There’s the draw to look forward to, then who gets named in the squad… and who declares for Ireland too
(incidentally 10 of tonight’s starting line up were Irish born and rared).
I suspect there will be new Ireland Jerseys on many a list for Santa.
I feel old looking at the Euro 88 highlights below. Still, what a fantastic day that was…

Enger-land coming for a ‘friendly’ next year apparently….
Hopefully Seamus Coleman and Wes Houlihan might get a game at some stage….
Coleman maybe. Hoolahan no chance.
I believe FÁS are researching the jobs market in Poland and Ukraine. So we can go out to the games and check out if there’s any work there at the same time. And with any luck, never come home (well except for every second weekend on Ryanair to see the mammy).
Not taking away from the central importance of economic matters, and not wishing to boost the nationalist sentiment associated with sporting competitions, but I’m really looking forward to next summer now.
On ’88 in Stuttgart, I was an economic migrant at the time myself, living over outside London. That win was possibly my best day in the 4 years I lived there.
Anyone got any tips for convincing spouse and kids of the merits of a holiday in Poland & Ukraine?
Delighted for Stephen Ward, ex-Bohs and the definition of a ‘honest pro’.
