[I know it's not the done thing to re-post all of a post without permission, but Tom McDonnell was so succinct over on progressive-economy.ie, that an extract would be pointless.]
Growth?
Tom McDonnell: We’ve turned the corner…and gone over the cliff. See here.
The expansionary fiscal contraction crowd seem to have gone a bit quiet of late.

And the only possible allowed solution is… more austerity!
(Of course, what they really want is ‘permanent’ austerity and an end to social democracy and the state as anything other than a coercive enforcer of the “rights” of the better off)
Honeymoon over – poll in tomorrow’s ST showing FG on 30%, Labour on 11% – SF up to 21% and now the second most popular party….FF on 20%
In general across Europe I think you can see a shift, not in policy but in argument: from “we need cur¡ts for a while, to recover” to “fuck you, you don’t deserve these things anyway”. This is disguised, for a while, by directing the “fuck you” at particular groups, notably public sector workers and immigrants, but eventually it may become clear that it really means all of us.
Don’t forget those on social welfare.
