Last year pro-abortion supporters showed their true colours by throwing items at children and women taking part in a peaceful pro-life rally in Dublin.
And this year it was equally pathetic. At most 100-150 people turned out with obscene placards proclaiming their right to choose. The only arrest of the day was made by the PSNI of a young man who seemingly assaulted a Pro-Life activist unprovoked.
FWIW, what Owen describes as “throwing items at children and women” was actually condoms being tossed into a crowd. Not surprised he can’t bring himself to type the word “condoms” though.
As I recall, the gardai had to protect the pro-choice protesters in Dublin last year from the threats and seething rage hurled at them by the anti-choice rally.
The anti-choice activist who was attacked yesterday was Michael Quinn…the extreme right wing fascist who in 1999 was arrested at a violent anti-abortion picket of a Dublin hospital – preventing doctors from being able to access patients. He’s also got strong links with Irish and European neo-Nazis.
He shouldn’t have been attacked no matter who he is. But the reasons why he was attacked may have very little to do with him just being an anti-abortionist.
This is the Michael Quinn at the “pro-life” rally yesterday. I didn’t see the incident but I heard he provoked the crowd at the pro-choice demo by giving fascist salutes.

150 sounds like a decent number to me. Well done to all involved.

Hard to think of a less dangerous object to thrown…

The WSM have put up a rake of photos from the event on their Facebook page.
