Starting off with these from 1932
On then to a “Students and Sinn Fein ” Leaflet with a cartoon of a ‘Quite short history of Ireland’ on the front. (would love to know when its from)
A 2002 General Election Litir Um Thoghchan from Ted Tynan of the Workers Party
from the February 1982 General Election a leaflet from Joe O’Connell running for Sinn Fein in Clare
and finally from Aodhán Ó Ríordáin “Your Guide to Job & Trainee Schemes”

Presumably the first means to ensure government for the rich vote FF. They could have re used it in 2007 and 2011 quite easily.
Just shows you how FF were the SF of their day back in the 30s.
Re Sinn Fein leaflet: when did SF stop pushing the `democratic socialist’ line? In the cartoon, `The Irish people defend themselves’ with a hammer and sickle.
Took me a couple of looks to see what you meant – that’s an odd one alright, the girl with the hammer seems to just be having a swing at your man’s head but the fella with the sickle has it well buried into him and has an oddly calm look on his face as he goes about his business, as if he’s trying to scoop the guy’s brains out or something.
Maybe it’s meant to be a scimitar, Arabian Nights-style?
I got the impression she was using the hammer to drive the sickle home.
But will anyone here object if, with a hammer in this hand and a sickle in the other, we take power in Ireland?
On the Students and SF leaflet, the ballot box image would make it post-1981 surely, and the image of the protesting students looks like one from the early 80s period of student activism. SF was very influential in student politics from 83/84 onwards if memory serves, once the WP were eclipsed in 81. I’d guess at early to mid 1980s.
There’s no mention of the hunger strikes, which might narrow it down.
I’d agree. This is in the style of the pamphlet they put out for the Euro election in ’82 / ’83? where they run Danny Morrison in the north
.
1984 Euro election.
I’ve been reliably informed that the SF leaflet is from 1983 and was distributed in amongst other colleges UCD at the time.
