Behold the social democrat! Step forward… John McGuinness TD November 14, 2012

An unlikely admission of adherence to social democracy (though I don’t like the sound of that term ‘radical’ – can’t think why) from the Sunday Business Post:
“I see Fianna Fáil right now as being very diminished. It will only hold its relevance if it moves to being radical with a social democratic heart to it. Fianna Fáil will have to reinvent itself to capture that space or it will end up sharing it with whatever new party emerges, while also always watching Sinn Féin on its flank.”
That would, of course, be John McGuinness of Fianna Fáil. Some of us will recall that – given his track record – social democracy would be perhaps the last term to spring to mind when his name is mentioned.

“Radical” in this context means the opposite of actual social democratic policies, of course. While disguising it by claiming the opposite.
Kind of like neo-liberalism, actually, so business as usual for the post-Taca FF?
