Shane Ross: Taoiseach, do you regard Ireland’s debt as now unsustainable?

To which came a remarkably waffling response about a ‘re-engineering of the debt’ and ‘opening spaces’ and ‘we’re in a different situation to Greece’, but tellingly no direct response.

How interesting.

. The annual amount of debt interest exceeds the annual growth rate in GNP. The primary function of the govt. is to act as a collection agency for international capital. The debt is sustainable so long as people continue to acquiesce in the progressively reduced living standard entailed by this extractive process.
