… is the [ironically intended] thought that springs to mind when reading this report of Enda Kenny’s words on RTÉ today… particularly the part which is bolded up :
Speaking on RTE’s The Week in Politics, Mr Kenny also rejected criticisms of the property tax by some Fine Gael Dublin TDs.
He said the tax was an alternative to income tax increases that would have damaged job creation.
Mr Kenny said people now have certainty that they will pay half the tax this year and that water charges are also on the way.
I believe Eamon Gilmore avoided the question as to whether levels of benefits would be reinstated to pre-crisis levels when (if!) the economic situation improves. And I am told he had harsh words about one C. Keaveney. Interesting.
