Mr. McGuinness? I think not. February 7, 2010

The sage of the tribes writes in today’s Sunday Independent, (hat tip to Ciarán)
“Mr McGuinness said that in his summary of the Protestant principles of private conscience, rebellion against Rome, and industriousness, coupled with his appeal in his final speech to the ard fheis for Protestants to use these truths to ‘confront hypocrisy’ in Ireland, Mr Mac Giolla ‘has been keeping the good wine to the last’.”
Tomas Mac Giolla did two states some service.
And in time historians will acknowledge it.
Now in fairness… sort of… he’s repeating a quote from the Irish Times, but given that he has eaten out on his links with unionism, he might think that it’s…er…not… Ken McGuinness.
“Mac Giolla did two states some service.
And in time historians will acknowledge it. ”
This to me sums him up.

“Mac Giolla did two states some service.”..
Given the nature of the state in capitalist society this is hardly praise for a leader of a workers’ party.

Hmmmm… well, I’d put it this way… given the circumstances he did pretty well. And given the source of the ‘compliment’…

For the Senator to get it wrong is one thing, but does the paper not use subeditors any more? Or is the sage’s writing exempt from even minor, face-saving corrections?

It is mad, isn’t it? Absolutely no attention to detail.
