This week from the Irish Election Literature Blog… February 26, 2010

Posted by WorldbyStorm in Irish Politics.

As AK notes…

Yet another mad week, God knows who the next resignation will be…

Anyway here’s Trevor in happier times.

In other green news…

Deirdre De Burcas Replacement in the Seanad Mark Dearey.

Then off we pop to the Left with…

Eamon McCann running for The Socialist Environmental Alliance in 2005.

Then John Dunne of The Workers Party from Dublin North West in 1997.

And then from ten years later we have John O’Neill of the ISN runnning in Dublin North West.

Back then to 1980s…

A Kieran Doherty H-Block candidate Poster from the 1981 General Election.

and A booklet from 1986 proclaiming ‘A New and Exciting Option in Irish Politics’…..

I had forgotten that Mary McAleese was with RTE for a while.

…and the first Dail in 1919.

And finally, a calling card to surely Win Friends and Influence People

Thanks as ever to AK… a great roundup of materials…

1. Jim Monaghan - February 26, 2010

“I had forgotten that Mary McAleese was with RTE for a while.”
And was witchunted for stating the obvious that the Hunger Strike was having an inmpact on the Nationalist masses.

2. Leveller on the Liffey - February 27, 2010

Interesting that Eamon McCann acknowledges on his Socialist Environmental Alliance canvass card that he’s a member of the SWP, something I don’t think is done by People Before Profit Alliance candidates, although I am open to correction.

Mark P - February 27, 2010

They don’t generally do so, but the very occasional leaflet will mention that a particular candidate is in the SWP.

Leveller on the Liffey - March 3, 2010

Thanks, Mark.

3. eamonn dublin - February 27, 2010

Gerry Adams never mentioned his IRA membership on his litrature…oh sorry, sure he was never a member.

Conor McCabe - February 27, 2010

Well you never mention your real name so I suppose that makes you even.

4. eamonn dublin - February 27, 2010

That is my real name. Eamonn mac Dubhlinn as gaeilge.

WorldbyStorm - February 27, 2010

No doubt, but didn’t you select the name eamonn dublin to differentiate yourself from eamonn cork? Or was it the other way around?

Conor McCabe - February 27, 2010

and you lie like Gerry Adams as well. You’d make a good couple.
