Here’s a piece that franklittle, once of these parts – and sorely missed, wrote in 2007 – a review of the film Garage in the context of the rural working class.

A staggering piece of work alright and it isn’t aging at all. Shortt was incredible as Josie.

For all the sneering at d’unbelievables and killinascully I think they work for the same reason Garage works, though obviously only for cheap laughs rather than social commentary, but still.

People who were reared in rural Ireland recognise all the characters all around them all the time.
