…another fine round up from AK. One thought that really strikes me week after week is how curiously appropriate so much of this material is for the present. It’s not that nothing has changed in Irish politics across, say, the last four decades, but there are so many lines of continuity, both political and personal that often the same figures appear again and again and again… And added to that are the issues that haven’t, as it were, gone away. Not least the last leaflet in this selection which given the arrival of a certain Mr. Rehn speaks of the long lasting but contested relationship with Europe.

From 1992 Jim Allen running for The Democratic Left.

From the mid 70s a “Or Jails -Cooneys Shame” Poster

From the 2003 Assembly Elections, a leaflet from Sinn Fein’s Alex Maskey.

From 2007 A Balbriggan Newsletter from Clare Daly of the Socialist Party.

Considering our current plight this 1997 Labour Party Leaflet “Regulation and the Economy” is of interest.

A notice for the first public meeting of the Irish Democratic Party [our latest ‘new’ party – wbs].

…and finally from 1972 a personal message from Liam Cosgrave as to why we should vote Yes to joining the EEC!
