None too subliminal suggestion on the part of the Irish Times? January 31, 2011

Whatever about the popularity or otherwise of the Green Party, and given the latest polling their imminent demise from national politics appears almost inevitable… what are the IT implying by the choice of these photographs?

All Boyles missing in that photo is food and drink stains on the shirt.

Separated at birth? In the newspaper pic Dan looks like Roseanne’s (tv sitcom from way way back) husband.

Well the certainly do have ‘the judgement of history on their shoulders’ but not quite for the reasons Lenny has in mind.

Lenihan, like Tony Blair, seems very keen on the judgement of history. Perhaps he might have invoked it with a bit more rhetorical flair, saying something like, “It is not you gentlemen who pass judgement on us. That judgement is spoken by the eternal court of history. Pronounce us guilty a thousand times over and she will smile, for she acquits us.”
I think that would look really nice on a poster defending Fianna Fail government policy. Of course you’d have the PC thought police on your back.
Nice to be reminded that Boyle played one of the locals in Straw Dogs.

As a fully paid-up member of the PC Thought Police I’d be inclined to wave you through.

Should we expect Lenihan to start quoting History Will Absolve Me in the next few weeks?
