The Come Here to Me list of punk/new wave bands 1977 to 1983 November 5, 2011

This is such a brilliant idea… as Jaycarax writes:

After a week of hard work, I’ve finally put together what I hope is a near definitive list of all singles released by Dublin punk/new wave bands from April 1977 to October 1983, starting with The Radiators From Space’s Television Screen and finishing with The Blades’ classic Downmarket.

As you can see from the list, there are still quite a number of singles that have not found themselves online yet.

This is a direct appeal to you to help, if you have a 7″ single which is currently not digitzed and on Youtube, by doing one of three things:
– Digitize it and upload it

– Give it to me and I can digitize it, upload it and give it back

– Give to me, I can digitize, upload it and give it a lovely new home!

Excellent – brings me back to Showboat Wednesday nights in Waterford 79-82 ish.

It’s funny, I was having a sort of internal argument with myself over the end point ’83’ but came to the conclusion Jaycarax got it just about right for the end of New Wave – though it would also be interesting to see what if any signs of proto-punk there were pre-77.

Thinking back more broadly the Psychedelic Furs seem to me to perfectly sum up that New Wave and after divide. 1982 – Forever Now, definitely New Wave, 1984 – Mirror Moves definitely after.
