MEMORIES OF UNDERDEVELOPMENT (1968)
Considered a masterpiece of world cinema, this film depicts a drama that takes place during a crucial phase in Cuban history, between the

the film a real sense of the momentous and revolutionary change taking place at that time.

– Featuring Sergio Corrieri, Daisy Granados, and Eslinda Núñez. Written by Edmundo Desnoe (based on his novel Inconsolable Memories). Directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea.

– In Spanish, with English subtitles.

– Running time: 97 minutes.

There is a three part documentary which I think was entitled Cuba in Africa, has anyone come across it?

It was a two-part documentary broadcast on BBC4 called “Cuba! Africa! Revolution!”, also known as “Cuba, an African Odyssey”. It was a really very good programme following Cuba’s involvement in anti-colonial struggles in Africa from the victory of the Cuban revolution through to the fall of Apartheid South Africa. It can probably still be found somewhere in the recesses of the internet, and I think it was released on DVD as well.
