Those recent Róisín Shortall interviews

The latest edition of the Dublin People carries an interview with Róisín Shortall and The Irish Times had one a few days ago too
I wonder is this a mix of both self publicity and encouraging further debate within Labour itself.

In The Dublin People she makes plenty of points about Labour needing to change direction

“I would expect to see a lot more of a change of direction from within the Labour Party in the New Year and that people will start looking at alternatives.

“We will work from within the party to see this change. This move has only really been devised in recent months, I guess since I resigned as Minister in September.

and interestingly given the pressure on Colm Keaveney to relinquish his position as Chairman of the Party…

“I think we’ll see a lot of movement internally from the grassroots of the party and I believe that Colm Keavney will focus on his desire for a change of direction within the party,”

The Irish Times piece has a question which her answer leads one to think that there may well be a divide based on previous political formations….

So is there a Labour/DL cleft? “That’s for another day,” she replies.

There’s a lot in both interviews but the main tack seems to be an attempt to change policies from inside the tent. It will be interesting to see how they get on.
