Sweet Jane are according to their profile a ‘Dream-Pop Rock & Roll band from Ireland’. I know little or nothing about them other than I stumbled on some of their tracks whilst listening to some Blades/ Paul Cleary (fans of The Blades/Cleary may find these old Blades/ Cleary/Partisans tracks worth checking out although the quality isn’t great)
Sadly I gather that their dreamy voiced lead singer Lydia Des Dolles left the band last year and it was her vocals on the track ‘Don’t hold your head so low’ that initially attracted my attention.Its almost Mazzy Starish, indeed included here is a cover of Mazzy Stars ‘Fade Into You’. The other tracks since her departure are pretty good too.
The one thing though and I know its a modern problem is that they are difficult enough to find via searches on youtube and search engines. Its a thing that wasn’t a problem pre internet as you were looking for a band name that would sound familiar but would in a musical sense be unique. Now though you would be looking for something unique in every sense, something that sounds familiar.
Of course when you become big and famous, you will be found easily ….

The Cedar Lounge Revolution 
Funny, I was pleasantly surprised by how strong the guitar and overall sound was in places. I’m a sucker for JAMC, Spiritualised, Sonic Boom stuff and this works well with the more Mazzy Star etc elements. Good find though it’s a pity to hear she’s left.
I know precisely what you mean about the problems of finding stuff online. I was thinking about this in light of the collapse of HMV, that except for the very mainstream stuff music stores just can’t hold very broad stocks, not when it’s possible to access stuff so easily online from iTunes, emusic, etc. But… then it’s finding the stuff online that becomes a problem. It seems to make the problem of groups breaking even greater than it already has been.
Another thought is just how much isn’t available online either.

I’ve found Spotify, since it launched in Ireland before Christmas to be great for finding stuff. It’s kept me busy revisiting old music I’d forgotten, music I always meant to seek out but never did and lots of new stuff. The social aspects of it and the playlists feature are great for finding new music.
But again there’s the problem of what’s not licensed there.

In a way emusic does the same for me. Though it’s tilted more sharply towards more contemporary stuff and it got a lot more expensive and I’ve had to switch down to much lower price plans.
