Political opportunism… February 6, 2013

Posted by WorldbyStorm in Irish Politics.

From Leaders’ Questions this morning on the topic of the Magdalen Laundries

Enda Kenny (in response to Mary Lou McDonald): I’m not going to rise to the bait of political opportunism…

And then, almost in the same breath…

You above all people and the party you represent …

(I paraphrase – but only very slightly)

Up there with Tony Blair’s announcement at the end of the talks that led to the Belfast Agreement that it was not a time for sound bites, immediately followed by the insight that he felt the hand of history on his shoulder.

Yes, it has that feel to it. He’s not had a two good days. MLM was particularly good I thought.

I walked away from the debate thinking that for all the greamhar nature of Kenny he is an out and out bollix.

a sickening bollix. I recgonise i’m not adding to the debate much with that but sometimes its sufficient to state it like that.

Depressing how he (kenny) has taken precisely the same path as those who have come before him. Tight lipped ‘say nothing’, diversionary rhetoric.

que, no that’s a perfectly succinct summation of Kenny’s character and a useful addition to the debate.
