Sunday Independent Stupid Statement of the Week April 13, 2014

Posted by Garibaldy in Sunday Independent Stupid Statement of the Week.

I was dreading reading all the Sindo’s nonsense about the state visit, but thankfully Jody Corcoran’s lament for the absence of Bertie and reflection on the idea that all political careers end in failure means there didn’t seem any need to after all.

The paradox is that, while McGuinness still thrives in the shelter of the present, to an extent that he may yet disprove Enoch Powell, Bertie Ahern remains defeated in the shadow of his past, denied or delayed his right, or justice, to the present.

What does that even mean? What is the point of that article? I have tried to looking at it forwards, backwards, sideways, at various other angles, tried ingested psychedelic substances and yet it continues to make no sense or have anything approaching a point. Do people really get paid for this?

Bertie is certainly denied his justice to the present; he’s still at large.

It’s been mentioned elsewhere on the CDL, but this dangerous absurdity by John Waters deserved reblogging:

“I don’t believe in depression. There’s no such thing. It’s an invention. It’s bullsh*t,” he said, “it’s a cop out.”

From the NHS :

Some people still think that depression is trivial and not a genuine health condition. They’re wrong. Depression is a real illness with real symptoms, and it’s not a sign of weakness or something you can “snap out of” by “pulling yourself together”.
