This Weekend I’ll Mostly Be Listening to… Songs about taking the bus May 2, 2015

Given that they are in the news I figured that this weekend I’d be listening to some songs about buses. Some good songs in there too. Ironically its on the bus that I listen to most music these days too.
Many moons ago I worked as a bus conductor and there were tape players in the drivers compartment. So if the driver was agreeable my walkman was opened and the bus would be listening to Wishbone Ash, Thin Lizzy, AC DC or some other musical delights. The reaction was generally good , especially at the quieter times of the day.

Well done to the strikers.
The bus eireann drivers, through rain and snow, rural and urban terrains, are probably some of the best drivers in the country – they cope with everything and all sorts; and manage still to be even-tempered people.
But – (and I do believe in a National transport network); But, I reckon there should be;- Cast-Iron 8 year contracts, with an added option of 2 more years?
There are, after all, very many more drivers, who also need employment – and security, even if only 8 – 10 years.?
Are the bus eireann etc. drivers taken on on a completely permanent? (and pensionable?) basis.

An eight year contract, why? Would you argue that would be a good idea across all jobs?

And now I live life in the bus lane”
