I don’t think I’ve shared this with the group, but a few years back, when I worked as a stage manager, I did a 50th birthdy party for a prominent Irish business who’s been in the news a bit recently despite being a very private person. Anyway, this very private party for a few hundred of his closest friends was held in a marquee in a south Dublin rugby club, with a mock up of his favourite Leeson St watering hole as you walked in. The reason I was there was because the entertainment was provided by the guy who wrote the birthday boy’s favourite song – for whch said artist was being paid a 6 figure sum that is very close to a 7 figure one (allegedly) the artist and favourite song?
