I’d often wondered about this, but not thought it feasible or necessary, but apparently yes it is.

Telescopes behind the moon would not have to contend with Earth’s ionosphere, and they would also be shielded from our planet’s radio chatter. “It is a very pristine environment for low-frequency observation,” says Jones.

Now, whether it will ever happen… that said it wouldn’t be necessary to have a human crewed telescope array.
