We thought about an April Fool story this year, but to be honest to do it justice would take more time than was available given events in recent times. Moreover where to start in a world where as IEL says FF and FG are having disputes over a text and a phonecall or where Donald Trump is seriously a potential nominee for the Republicans for the Presidency of the US or where… anyhow, there’s a lot going on and much of it a lot more absurd than is easy to satirise….

…that said if anyone sees good examples of April Fool’s stories send in links. Given just the two examples above perhaps we need the laugh.

Harry looks more and more like Luke Kelly every day.

Old story: Back in days of yore a German prince is out hunting far from the palace. He sees a peasant who looks just like himself and calls him over and says,-‘My good man did your mother ever work around the palace’, and the peasant replies, ‘No, but my father did’.

I laughed at the following line, attributing views to Prince Philip in the Guardian article:

“He admires what Tsipras and Varoufakis achieved – in fact he told friends he sees something of his younger self in the charismatic, motorbike-riding, eye-for-the-ladies Varoufakis. Mind you,” added the source, “he also thinks the Greeks would never have got into this mess if the colonels had still been in power.”

What does Jack ‘Ádh Mór’ Kelly make of the prospect of a new FF/FG coalition?

Sad to say he’s taken what he calls a ‘social democrat’ turn and is said to be advising both FF and FG on the matter. A terrible waste of his remarkable talents.
