Followed by the launch of Dr Metscher’s new book Republicanism and Socialism in Ireland: From Wolfe Tone to James Connolly.

[Priscilla Metscher, was born in Saintfield, Co Down, which was a heartland of the Presbyterian United Irishmen movement of 1798. She graduated from Queens University Belfast and lectured in Methodist College, Belfast before moving to Germany. She is the author of “James Connolly and the reconquest of Ireland” published by MEP Press USA, 2002. She has also written numerous papers and articles on the politics of James Connolly. ]

Annual James Connolly Commemoration

As it has done every year for decades, the CPI will hold its annual James Connolly Com­memor­ation in Arbour Hill on the Sunday nearest the date of his execution (12 May). All are welcome.
Oration by John Douglas (general secretary, Mandate).
