Speaking of the new Independent Ministers… May 18, 2016

Someone asked this today, where are they? Conspicuous by their absence in the chamber as far as I could see (at least until Katherine Zappone appeared at 4.55 for the Adoption (Amendment) Bill). And, while I’m open to correction, no contributions so far. The point was also made that since the remarkably high profile of one of them at the weekend they’ve vanished.

expecting ministes to sit in the chamber for show is silly, but the new junior ministers couldn’t avoid the media so Halligan called on Ms O’Sullivan to “make a statement, clarify some issues and be done with it and let’s move on because we don’t want this hanging over our heads”. OPW Minister Seán Canney expressed confidence in Ms O’Sullivan – but said it would be helpful if she made a statement “rather than letting it drag out”. http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/politics/cracks-appear-in-cabinet-over-garda-crisis-34731650.html

Indo trying to make drama of course Zappone would support the commissioner and the other would be more cautious http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/politics/ministerial-split-widens-over-ohiggins-row-34734391.html

As an aside I see that Michael Fitzmaurice has left the Independents Alliance.

He seemed ever increasingly uncomfortable with them. I see he’s talking about joining a Technical Group. Has one been established?

Wherever he goes he’ll continue to repeat himself on the turf issue.

Has Fitzmaurice demanded that the state provide access and transport to and from bogs in Eastern Europe for when the stuff runs out here?
