Business sentiment. May 20, 2016Posted by WorldbyStorm in Uncategorized.
Most useful survey of business sentiment in the SBP this weekend. 50 ‘Irish business leaders’ were contacted by the paper and their responses? Well, they’re not exactly enthused by this brave new era we are in.
There’s the obvious – 76% of respondents feel the government is inadequately prepared for Brexit. And one could add in the 67% who feel that business is inadequately catered for in the programme for government.
But intriguingly sentiment is a bit divided as regards happiness about the new cabinet “especially the key economic ministries (finance, jobs and enterprise”. 24% Don’t Know, 37% are happy and 39% aren’t.
And what about the arrival of Independents in Cabinet?
69% feel they will be a destabilising force whereas 29% disagree. Only 2% have no opinion.
As to their list of concerns?
Housing was first, then expansionary pressures on government, then Brexit. After that it was industrial relations, then investment in infrastructure and banking sector reform and finally… Irish Water.
Problem? What problem?
