Why? June 2, 2016

Is the question that comes to mind reading that:

The Labour Party is to support the Fianna Fáil TD Pat the Cope Gallagher in the election for Leas Ceann Comhairle in the Dáil today.

Fine Gael TD Bernard Durkan, Independent Mattie McGrath, and Sean Crowe of Sinn Féin are also contesting the position.

Given, that is, that Labour remains steadfast in continuing to blame FF for much of our woes. Why would it support him over, say FG’s Durkan?

Apart from that point, there is also the question of the same party — any party — having TDs in both the Ceann and Leas Ceann Comhairle offices.

Because.

Which just about sums it up for the Labour Party.
