I suggest this blog should have a regular (weekly) slot where people can post happenings at the personal or political level that gives them hope that we’re perhaps not going to hell in a handbasket as quickly as we thought. Or as the phlegmatic Germans put it “hope dies last”.
It’s a great idea. Any contributions this week?

After SYRIZA I’ll look forward to seeing what Unidos Podemos achieve after a year in government. No scope whatsoever no for left grandstanding in elections and then, once in government, continuing business as usual or capitulating like SYRIZA. I hope they do well, but what they do with their support is the key question. Let’s wait and see what happens in Spain.

Here’s hoping that the latest PP & PSOE corruption scandals will reflect in an increased vote for Unidos Podemos today.
And after that that UP either forces the PSOE to join them in a challenge to the EU Fiscal Pact and the peaceful independence of Catalonia or to commit political suicide by going into coalition with the PP.

That would be nice.
I planted nasturtiums on the balcony – by democratic request – I’m no great fan, they got serious blackfly (because, I think, of the mild winter that we had here). I painted them with washing up liquid solution and since then have some yellowing leaf disease.
Any suggestions – I’ve always thought of nasturtiums as pretty much indestructible.

Ian Paisley junior encouraging people in the North to avail of RoI passports. If I didn’t just dream that.
The Belfast Central Post Office run out of forms for that purpose.
The hopeful bit is that with more people holding explicitly dual nationality, including unionists, they may in time become more flexible on the status of the North.
