If this wasn’t such a serious moment for workers and immigrants and immigrant workers and people of colour in England then the sheer entertainment value of the Tory leadership contest would be gold. Here we have Cameron taken out by…er…himself. The heir apparent taken out by his deputy. The deputy seemingly taken out by his belief in his own adequacy and leadership bid. And… the prize looks like it may go to… the person who supported Remain!
Could I make it up? I could not.

Talking about this with someone yesterday and both of us almost relieved that’ll it will probably be May.until you realise that either Johnson or Gove could be relied upon to destroy their party whereas she will probably save it.

Remember the racist van? I think she’s quite comfortable with instrumentalising racism I pursuit of power. Very dangerous because she seems moderate.

I was genuinely surprised when I discovered that was her because as you say she seemed moderate. No such thing clearly.

Yeah…I said almost. It’s been such a weird week.
Nye Bevan’s comment about tories and vermin needs updating – replicants: things that look human, but have motivations and forms of ‘life’ that are quite other.
One other thing.. I suspect by the autumn, the one person who will be in exactly the same place, his ambitions and reputation intact, will be George Osborne.

Absolutely. He’s been unbelievably lucky. The focus has been completely off him. And if he can take credit for any stabilisation of the market. Well, he’s quids in.
