Desperately sad. One of the first “celebs” to die from AIDS was the wonderful Klaus Nomi. By all accounts he died alone: friends were too scared to visit him because the condition was so poorly understood and thought to be highly contagious.

Well, people don’t “die from AIDS”, but you know what I mean…

Is really it that long? The disease and the deaths and just living with it have become tragically a fact of life in the mean time.

I read somewhere that there is some progress being made in treatment that goes beyond anti-retroviral maintenance and looks at eliminating the HIV DNA from the host. Is that a big step forward?

Will never forget Reagan’s responsibility. An entirely avoidable catastrophe.

Worth watching And the Band Played On, Dallas Buyers Club and The Normal Heart.

Or reading And the Band Played On if you can’t get the film.
