Republican Convention Week July 18, 2016

This could be entertaining. Or maybe not.

Mr Trump is due to receive the Republican Party’s formal nomination for the US Presidency at its convention which opens in Cleveland today.

Governor of Indiana Mike Pence is also set to be announced as Mr Trump’s running-mate in the race for the White House.

There will be 2,472 delegates representing Republicans around the country casting votes, and despite rumours of a potential effort to stop him, Mr Trump will win the vast majority of them to be declared the official nominee.

I can’t see Trump being pushed aside. Not at this stage, not on that stage – as it were. As gendjinn noted, in national polls he’s doing okay (though delegate projections aren’t as favourable). What do others think?

If you can handle it (and I couldn’t, just read transcripts) the 60 Minutes interview with Stahl-Trump-Pence is a train wreck. In fact the whole weekend role out of Pence was atrocious.

It is odd how Clinton is polling better in swing and traditionally Republican states but the polls reported nationally have them closer, especially the one with their net favourables being -24%/-26% for Trump/Clinton.

Trump has a better shot at winning the presidency than he did of winning the Republican primary. Let that terrifying thought sink in.

Listen, if yer done with Enda can we have him please? He’s better than the two options we appear to have.

Farage and Geert Wilders are in Cleveland. Welcome to the new mainstream.

I’ll start worrying about Trump in October if necessary.

In the meantime I want to take a summer break (apart from occasional anti-AfD activities) from racist buffoons.
