…or so it would seem FF considers the government, because Micheál Martin, at his FF “think-in” has two somewhat different messages for two different audiences.
For those attending the parliamentary party meeting…
the Government was out of touch, reactive and lacked direction.
He said there had been no preparation for Brexit, the Apple ruling, nor a strategy for the rash of transport strikes.
But for journalists…
…the agreement that saw his party keeping the Government in office did not envisage any budget surprises and he did not see any reason why next month’s package of measures should bring down the administration.
Which perhaps underlines the sense that this government is around for at least another six months – after all, what Minister wants to lose their position just three or four months into the job. That said it’s not just up to them. Apparently:
…much of the talk in the margins of the think-in will centre on how the party should be positioned in the event of a political accident upending that view.
