John Carpenter… October 23, 2016

Plays Vicar Street on Tuesday. I’m particularly interested because I’ve never been to a concert by someone who scores films. Carpenter’s work has always had a strong electronic aspect to it and I suppose it is possible to see his influence in the 1980s and after in electronica and dance and synth driven pop. Good interview with him in the IT.

I’m kinda sorry I;m not going on Tuesday . I have Halloween and Escape from New York soundtracks on vinyl from years back. Saw both Morricone and Simonetti in concert , both excellent. Enjoy the show.

Nice reworking of one of his most famous themes.

My own favourite of his movies, though it’s quite untypical.

Though I’ll always have a soft spot for this with its massive budget and state of the art special effects.

I won’t be going because I’ll never be able to forgive him for the 1978 FAI Cup final.

It is indeed. Giles and Dunphy and Fulham and Lynex and all playing for Shams. This footage is brilliant – yer man must have filmed his telly, just love the black line going up the screen, great times.
