Anyone still unconvinced as to the tortuous complexity of the Brexit process can look no further than this article here on the RTÉ website which examines in some detail the status of fisheries in the context of that process. Frankly reading it one has to wonder if this is a situation where everyone has a gun to everyone else’s head.

There’s frankly bizarre stuff in there too about energy and emergency fuel stocks. Take this:

Also, the EU provides for disaster relief across Europe and as such each member state is obliged to have a reserve stock of emergency fuel. Ireland’s stock is held in the UK (permitted under the rules). With the UK out of the EU, Ireland may no longer be compliant with the regulation.
