In light of Stephen Donnelly joining Fianna Fail, I decided to investigate how well people who stand for one party and then switch party during a Dail term do in elections. I am not counting where Parties join up with others for instance the DSP or Democratic Left joining Labour.
There have also been plenty of TD’s that have gone Independent and not joined Parties. Allied to that for many years in many places there was only Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and Labour to choose from.

In the 2011-2016 Dail term
Clare Daly Elected for the Socialist Party – returned in 2016 as an Independents4Change candidate
Tommy Broughan – Elected for the Labour – returned in 2016 as an Independents4Change candidate
Terence Flanagan – Elected for Fine Gael , joined Renua and lost his seat
Roisin Shortall – Elected for Labour, Re elected for The Social Democrats
Lucinda Creighton – Elected for FG – joined Renua and lost seat
Colm Keaveney – Elected for Labour – ran for FF and lost his seat

Proinsias de Rossa – Elected for The WP – Re Elected for DL

Way too many of them to count, also it’s more of a shock when people move from Party to party.
