The darkest timeline? February 11, 2017

Posted by WorldbyStorm in Uncategorized.

I love Community – and am engaged on a rewatch, currently on season 3, but I was a bit taken aback to read in relation to Trump’s ‘See You in Court’ tweet this week… that…

And because we live in the darkest timeline, there was even a special Instagram version of “see you in court” on Trump’s official account. In caps too, obviously.

The darkest timeline?

But this sense of matters moving towards disaster is much more widespread… in the SBP a week or so ago in some review it spoke of the ‘world sliding towards its end’.

What’s going on? Is this Trump period genuinely so dark?

Speaking of Community, I see that seasons 6 is now on release. And talk of a film hasn’t completely melted away.

‘I sit in one of the dives
On Fifty-second Street
Uncertain and afraid
As the clever hopes expire
Of a low dishonest decade:
Waves of anger and fear
Circulate over the bright
And darkened lands of the earth….

Defenseless under the night
Our world in stupor lies;
Yet, dotted everywhere,
Ironic points of light
Flash out wherever the Just
Exchange their messages:’- Auden.

Maybe its not as dark now as when Auden wrote in September 1939. And besides there are no dives anymore on Fifty-second street.

But then the twitterer-in-chief has only been in power for three weeks.

“Trump’s third week in office ended with a devastating report about Trump feeling overwhelmed by it all. He can’t manage the U.S. government on a practical or intellectual level—his administration, like the country itself, seems on the verge of a nervous breakdown….
Trump also went to his happy place, Mar-a-Lago, where he attended a Marie Antoinette–themed ball because irony really did die after 9/11…
On Tuesday, Betsy DeVos paid her way into the Department of Education, where she will fulfill Jesus’s goal of snatching the pencils out of poor kids’ hands..
Finally, it looks like Rosie O’Donnell may play Steve Bannon on SNL. If she does, given the last week, Trump might start a civil war.
