The fall of Jersey: how a tax haven goes bust . Really interesting piece in The Guardian on Jersey which put all it’s eggs into the offshore Tax haven basket and how it’s not working out too well for them now.

It also portends to what may happen were The UK post Brexit to set itself up as an offshore tax haven on a grander scale.
A warning too on our own dependency on certain Tax Rates and Accounting practices for Multi Nationals.

The article is very good & a fair summation of the problems they face, outside of the EU & effectively outside of the UK too.

Jersey’s financial services were a product of a different time. The world & particularly the EU has moved on. Similar or superior financial services are available from Dublin to Riga, but within the EU & tax treaty networks. Tax structures have completely changed & many countries within the EU have no inheritance or gift taxes.

The question is perhaps where it goes from here. Would France look a more attractive bet than a friendless UK?

It is a pity that Switzerland is not in the same mess.
This is good. Book and website on how it is all done. And the City of London plays a major role in organising it. http://treasureislands.org/
