From a Vote Leave leaflet a piece on Northern Ireland, indeed the only reference to Northern Ireland I could find in the Vote Leave part of my pile of Brexit material.

Lord, the laughable idea that they would give more to farmers in the north.

Yeah, Norway is not exactly a hotbed of Dairy and poultry farming either.

Obviously someone unfamiliar with Norwiegan Cheese.

It’s funny note that despite the common complaint that the EU is ‘protectionist’ on agriculture, the only Western European countries outside the EU are even more generous than the CAP and indeed, have rejected membership in part for that reason (this is especially the case of Norway).

Anyway, this discussion misses a very, very crucial point. As things stand at present, once Brexit happens control of Northern agriculture devolves, not to Westminster, but to Stormont. So it will be the DUP handing farm subsidies, not London (at least not directly). This is going to be a huge problem for the UK in trying to negotiate foreign trade agreements.

+1 its both naive and a bit duplicitous

Someone’s been doing a good bit of lobbying. The fragility of the Belfast Agreement even got a mention in the German Bundestag debate on Brexit.

Ain’t that the truth GW. Good.
