How often does Kenny ‘address the leadership issue’ these days? I feel like I’ve seen this headline before…

Enda Kenny ‘to address leadership issue’ at party meeting

It would appear he has made his final address of this issue as RTE are reporting he is to go by midnight tonight!

No link as yet, however.

I wonder if that Fine Gael ‘fair deal’ campaign has a ‘no backsies’ clause. Anyone know?

Just this once, my cynicism re Fine Gael has been unwarranted 😉

I took the same view as you and thought Kenny would string it out till the Autumn.

I found this unpleasant curiosity online-there’s now a “Stalin Society of Ireland” Facebook page:

What’s astounding is how naive it all is, along with the unpleasantness. There’s a sort of credulity there.

“Mayor de Blasio said he will march in the Puerto Rican Day Parade as usual this year, when the event honors Oscar López Rivera — who spent decades in prison for his work with a group that set off deadly bombs in New York City….
López Rivera, a member of the Puerto Rican independence group Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional (FALN) in the 1970s and early 1980s — was released from house arrest on the island Wednesday after being pardoned by former President Barack Obama.”

Ive never uttered these words before in my life and it feels a bit like saying I’m after giving Fine Gael a third preference, but its good to see the Cork hurlers back

Great game yesterday. I didn’t realize how much of a Cork hurling supporter I am – comes down through the mother and the wife clearly.
Huge questions about Tipp now. Makes the All-Ireland very open indeed.
I want to believe the Dubs can create an even bigger shock by beating Galway. Here’s hoping.

like Labour across the water, a competitive performance from the Dubs seems to be the most we can hope for Joe – which by the way JC is certainly giving

Anyone any feel for how the UK General Election campaign is going in the six counties? Roddy was on here early in the last Assembly campaign, saying that he’d be missing from here as all his time would be spent on the canvas and also saying that there was huge momentum behind the SF campaign at the time. I thought it was a case of SF man says SF doing well on the doors – but it turned out to be spot on.
So Roddy, have ye the time to give us a read on how things are going this time?

I think this chap was mentioned on here a few times. Isn’t he the chap who was very forthright in his views on the alleged takeover of the republican movement by foreign-influenced Marxists in the sixties?

Séan Fitzpatrick Is to be acquitted of 27 charges relating to financial misdealing on the direction of the trial judge.

https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2017/0523/877300-sean-fitzpatrick/

The ruling is significant in the serious criticisms it makes of the Office of Director of Corporate Enforcement. There will be a lot of questions that need answering about how they and the DPP could tank the longest running trial in the history of the state.

Needless to say, it may be instructive to compare the outcome here with the eventual outcome of the Jobstown Trial.

Hard to say for sure without having heard all the evidence …but looks like the right decision not to let it go to the jury . What a disaster for the ODCE, allowing for a public – private partnership in the taking of witness statements. Heads will roll on this.

Paddy Power only offer odds on eight NI constituencies (and South Down isn’t one of them). Are the rest that much of a foregone conclusion?
