Watched The BBC News at 10 and Newsnight the last few nights just to see their coverage of the Labour manifesto launch and the campaign in general. Now I’ve been seeing all sorts online about the BBC being biased and so on but I assumed that was some overexuberant Labour supporters. It’s strange but is it the BBC or just the general political commentary trend that Tax rises or Nationalisation are bad?
Interviewers asked in a Vox pop if Jeremy Corbyn was a Strong leader. It struck me as strange that half the Tory slogan was being used as a question.
Now I’m biased against her but Theresa Mays campaign has been a dull drag so far. Staged selected audiences, staged selected questions and whilst she is being portrayed as Thatcher mark two, she seems to me as ill at ease in the public eye.
Labour seem to be clawing their way up in the polls , The LibDems are standing still and UKIP are disintegrating. The next fortnight could be a lot more interesting that previously thought. Despite everything , could the Tories end up only winning 20 or 30 extra seats?

labour has probably narrowed the gap by about 5 since then but not over all geographies in the same fashion

The prob for Lab is that whilst it is defending some seats in London from Tory swings (and it might hold them) its target seats are in areeas where it looks as though the Swings to the Tories could be huge http://www.electionpolling.co.uk/battleground/targets/labour

GB is an imperial state, and Corbyn is the first BLP Leader with anti-imperial values. Given more time he might have won, but not this time. However when the Blairite go for him after the election, they should be beaten off a third time, and May could make such a disaster of the Brexit negotiations even the UK corporate media (including own for that matter) that hate him, might not be able to stop him becoming next time. Of course, that’s just by optimism talking.

I’m with you on that optimism Roger. Am I imagining it or is the BLP and Corbyn doing surprisingly well so far given the massed ranks of the msm lined up against them?
Every chance that the BLP will win the next election after this one. Would be interesting if the BLP is still led by its social democrat tendency at that stage.

Not imagining it. Given the scale of the media coverage against them, Lab is holding up very well. 3 weeks to go, and all polls have been showing Lab clawing back into the low 30s (hitting their 31% at the previous).

I’m watching events admittedly from a distance of 3k miles but i agree, from what i can see and read. he’s getting the crowds and she’s not, like trump vs clinton……

The issue is with indoctrination with right-wing economics in college and through the media.
Same thing applies in this country, and in surprising places.

Fascinating that JC is now polling higher then Ed Mili, and it’s within bounds that he’ll do better than Brown in 2010 (vote % anyway). Why should he resign to let a Blairoid replace him, so?

On September 14, 2015, the statement below was carried on the Socialist Party Website in a piece on the election of Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the British Labour Party.
“Supporters of Militant said at that time(70,80s) that many like Corbyn and Ken Livingstone had “abandoned the policy of the right in favour of a no less disastrous policy of their own.”
The statement goes on to include the IRA, the British Army, extreme right wing loyalist allies of the British Army, as common enemies against which workers should unite when it advocates workers unity “against the barbarism of paramilitarism, repression and sectarianism around a socialist programme”
To describe the policy of Corbyn and Livingstone as “no less disastrous” than the policy of the British Imperial warmongers is perfectly outrageous and pro-imperialist
