trackback

This week, let’s just all take the time to enjoy Ruth Dudley Edwards having to acknowledge that her favourite newspaper had apparently let her down badly.

Instead with what turned into ‘Blondegate’, with the unwitting help of the Sunday Independent Sinn Fein has had another hit in its long-running ‘Winding-up- the-Prods’ strategy.

The column also notes that her book on the Rising. The Seven, has been shortlisted for the Orwell Prize. Somehow appropriate one might feel.

Any souls out there hardy enough to read her book and let us know what lies therein? I managed one line.
“Pearse, with a crazed look in his eye, burst from house to house shouting cringey republican poetry and pushing aside old men and women who’d worked hard all their lives. Think Rik Mayall in the Young Ones.”

I’m certain that there’s a suitable libel for each of the seven signatories.

Is she implying that Pearse was some sort of layabout? Wasn’t he a newspaper editor and teacher and writer, as well as a qualified barrister?

Well, he was a native. Everyone knows that good Englishmen and women with the correct imperial mindset are the only ones who really work in the colonies.
