Credibility gap June 2, 2017

Big interview in the SBP at the weekend with Michael O’Leary. Age has not dimmed him, or his propensity to litter his speech with the f-word. Nor has it stunted his tendency to say pretty much whatever the hell comes into his mind on any given issue. So for example we get this gem…

He was trenchant too in his views on other parties too [having expressed the view M. Martin should be ‘taken out’ from the FF leadership and replaced by ‘Michael McGrath or a new generation of FF leaders’ due to ‘being in cabinet when they drove the fucking car off the cliff’. He seems unaware that one of the reasons for the car falling to the sea below was… a credulous attitude to the private sector and under-regulation and… need I go on? – wbs] especially SF.

“I don’t wat to see the Shinners getting any toehold here,” he said. “Frankly their economic policies have failed and they’re being practised at the moment in North Korea with no success whatsoever.”

Uh-huh. Really? Really?

Probably over excited in expectation of his appearance at the Bilderberg. I know where I’d love to give him a toe..n it rhymes with hold!

Bilderberg can only be a matter of time.

Is he ever challenged by interviewers to give details of what he’s actually holding up to be true?

Or does he get a pass on facts because journos and editors are under the thumbs of the Advertising Depts counting on Ryanair ads?

It’s such an easy ride he’s given. But then he’s an ‘entrepreneur’ etc and seemingly that excuses everything.

I am consistently amazed at how the private school class view Sinn Fein. Their genuine and heartfelt belief is that Gerry Adams is Belfast’s Vladimir Lenin, ready to snatch away your toothbrush and pass it around as common property.

Do Fianna Fáil give lectures on this? The number of times I have heard “Sinn Féin will take the keys to your house” from different people make me think they are getting it from a central location. Of course, it is not SF who have been taking the keys to rich people’s house but their once friendly bank manager…

That’s intriguing re the idea there’s a sort of central direction to this. The North Korean one is so asinine and yet… it keeps popping up in our political culture.

Leaflets were handed out after Mass in Moy co Tyrone last weekend ,not only labelling SF baby killers but warning people that they would take their farms off them! Apparently the leafleters have no problem with the SDLP at all.
