Anyone know anything more about what’s happening in SF in Tipp?
Cllr Seamus Morris expelled from the party.

Brilliant statement by Cllr Doran from Thurles in this piece. Worth reading right till the end. Politics.

Makes me nostalgic for when we got the centre to impose party discipline on our beloved soon to be TD. 🙂

When I try to access the “tipperary times ,my “McAfee web advisor ” warns me of “trouble ahead” so I declined as I don’t want to wreck my computer. Therefore I know nothing about this TIPP story but I must say this infighting seems to be more prevalent since the party became more successful. In the old days when the party was up against it ,this type of thing was a rare occurence. However up here anyway it never had an electoral effect as the voters take a party line and vote accordingly .Even when people leave the votes stay with SF.

That’s been a very noticeable feature about the SF vote in the north alright. Not sure about down here. There was the ‘split’ in east Cork but SF still retained its seat there, didn’t it? I’d say though that there’s more possibility down here that a strong local rep who gets shafted/goes rogue or whatever would retain a personal vote that might damage the proper SF candidate.
Or as I often like to put it, the north is different.

I think you’re right that it’s become more prevalent since the party became more successful but I think there’s something more to it than that.

Part of the problem is that the party in the South, as an organisation, is simply unable to resolve these conflicts when they do arise.

Most of the party’s officials in the South were the officials ten and 20 years ago. They’re not used to dealing with these situations and are generally not handling them well.
