‘The finest men alive’: Documents of imprisonment & protest, 1916–17

An exhibition of documents concerning those imprisoned in Irish and British jails following the 1916 Rising until the general amnesty of June 1917.

Some familiar faces. Great project.

It really is great, well done to all involved. There is a need for a master catalogue of all of the online (and remaining offline) sources now available for the period, with metadata and comprehensive search. The unfortunate problem at the moment is an abundance of riches, i.e. too much material to easily search through.

(Also to be wished for, is getting some poor researchers to try to decipher and transcribe Ernie O’Malley’s notebooks in UCD).
