Signs of Hope – A continuing series May 17, 2018

Gewerkschaftler suggested this recently:
I suggest this blog should have a regular (weekly) slot where people can post happenings at the personal or political level that gives them hope that we’re perhaps not going to hell in a handbasket as quickly as we thought. Or as the phlegmatic Germans put it “hope dies last”.
Any contributions this week?
You’ll prob do a separate thread on it but it is a sign of hope that the Yes side still has a healthy lead in the latest poll in the IT today.
Of course that lead has narrowed somewhat but still on course for Yes. Connacht Ulster is 51% 49% yes currently. There’s hope for ye.

Seriously I’d love to see Connacht Ulster come out for changing the 8th. Fingers and other members crossed!

Seriously, I wasn’t patronising culchies with the line “There’s hope for ye”. Anyone remember Cosgrave’s “That’s women for ye” comment? Well the stress in “There’s hope for ye” would be the same as he spoke it in his infamous quip, if you follow.
So bacically, the ‘ye’ in my sentence referred to everyone not just people from Connacht/Ulster.
Make sense, GW, since you picked it up differently?

Not really a sign of hope but a good article on British cabinet politics and Brexit. https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/theresa-may-boris-johnson-soft-brexit-customs-a8359371.html
